Tarrant VINELink Search Was Replaced
The current county custody and court notification channel is Texas IVSS-Counties. The Texas Attorney General says former Texas county VINE registrations moved into the new service when the transition took effect on September 1, 2025. “VINELink inmate search” remains familiar search language, but directing a Tarrant County user to the old workflow would now be unsafe.
IVSS-Counties can carry booking and release notices, custody changes, court events, death, escape, and transfer-to-TDCJ events, depending on data supplied by a participating agency. It can show a current custody or under-supervision result and offer notification choices. The statewide support number published for the county service is 866-268-8959, available around the clock.
Use the right Texas system. IVSS-Counties covers participating county custody and court events. TDCJ IVSS covers Texas prison, parole, release, and related supervision events. Neither system replaces the BOP locator for a federal inmate.
Search One Tarrant County Inmate
The portal is built for a specific-person lookup, not a daily list of everyone released. Gather identifying details before starting, particularly when the name is common.
- Open the Texas IVSS-Counties portal and choose the offender search.
- Enter a full or partial name. The interface suggests at least the first three letters of the first and last names separated by a space. An identifying number is usually more precise.
- Alternatively, enter a DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or permanent booking number when one is available.
- Complete the CAPTCHA required by the live search.
- Compare possible matches using the agency, identifiers, and available status details. Do not select a person based on a name alone.
- Open the matching custody or under-supervision result and read the event wording before choosing notification options.
If no result appears, check spelling, partial-name formatting, and identifiers. Then use the Tarrant County release search to test the Sheriff roster, municipal agency, court, TDCJ, BOP, or ICE channel appropriate to the person. A negative IVSS result does not prove release.
Recognize Tarrant County IVSS Search
The official IVSS-Counties search provides the current starting point for participating county records and alert registration.
The screen should be treated as an access interface, not a certified historical record. Preserve the agency name, offender identifier, displayed status, and event time when following up. Those details help TCSO Records or another custodian find the correct booking.
Read Tarrant IVSS Search Results
Available fields vary with the reporting agency and event. Read them together rather than using a single label as proof of community release.

A person no longer in custody may stop appearing in a new search. Existing notification registrations may persist and can reactivate if the person returns. Thus, absence is not a historical result, and an alert registration is not the same thing as a permanent release record.
Register Tarrant Inmate Release Alerts
After selecting the correct record, registration can be made with or without creating an account. An account adds tools for managing contact details and alert preferences, but it is not required for every registration.
- Open notification options from the matching person’s record.
- Select the events available for that agency and record, such as a release, transfer, or custody change.
- Choose among the offered telephone call, text message, and email delivery methods.
- Enter the contact information carefully and set the available contact preferences.
- Complete whatever live verification or confirmation the current screen requires.
- Save the registration and record which person, identifier, agency, and event types it covers.
- If using an account, review history, pauses, blackout periods, and contact settings after registration.
Do not publish or rely on a promised four-digit PIN plus pound-sign step. That instruction belonged to the historical Texas VINE phone workflow. The old system also described repeat calls for up to 48 hours. Current directions should follow the live IVSS confirmation screen instead of importing those legacy steps.
Tarrant VINELink PIN Directions Changed
The September 2025 transition is more than a branding change. Texas carried prior county registrations into IVSS-Counties, but current searching, notification preferences, account controls, and support belong to the replacement service. Instructions copied from an old VINE brochure may lead a user to a legacy telephone workflow and an outdated support number.
The current portal supports name and identifier searches, CAPTCHA, registration with or without an account, and available call, text, or email preferences. Account holders can manage contacts, history, pauses, and blackout dates or hours. Those are the operational facts to preserve. Historical PIN details are useful only when clearly labeled as history, never as present registration directions.
Old registrations moving forward does not guarantee that every preference remained unchanged or that every agency supplies the same events. Review the live registration after migration. If help is needed, use the current IVSS-Counties support route rather than the former county VINE number.
What Tarrant Release Alerts Prove
An IVSS alert proves that a participating agency reported a custody-status event to the service. It does not necessarily prove that all holds cleared or that the person entered the community. A county jail can record a departure that is actually transfer to TDCJ, another county, federal authorities, or ICE.
Preserve the alert’s agency, time, identifier, and exact event wording. For TCSO custody, check the current Sheriff search and request the public portions of the booking-specific book-out from TCSO Records. The Records Division is at 200 Taylor Street, sixth floor, Fort Worth, TX 76196; telephone 817-884-2942; email TCSO_Records@tarrantcountytx.gov; and an online request portal is linked from the Sheriff’s public-records page. The county warns against encrypted email because it will not be opened.
A precise request identifies the full name, date of birth or CID, booking number, and narrow dates. Ask for book-in and book-out timestamps, actual release date and time, disposition, and transfer destination if public. A court judgment, dismissal, plea result, or bond document may explain the legal authority, while the jail record establishes the custody transaction.
Tarrant Prison and Parole IVSS
State-prison and parole notifications use TDCJ IVSS, which is distinct from IVSS-Counties. It can provide offender status, facility, expected release information, actual release information, and number-history intake or release dates, subject to the live record. It also supports notices about parole eligibility, Board decisions, discharge or release, and certain supervision-warrant events.
Search using a name, SID, or current or previous TDCJ number. The instructions allow an asterisk for partial matching in appropriate fields. Compare the result with the current TDCJ inmate search when a person is still incarcerated. The legacy current search is limited to people currently imprisoned and can show a projected date or scheduled release date and location when set. It cannot, by itself, supply the historical record of someone who has left.
TDCJ publishes 800-848-4284 for IVSS, while a separate Attorney General page has displayed a number ending in 4294. Because the official sources conflict, verify the current contact on the live TDCJ portal before relying on a telephone number. Do not silently choose between conflicting official numbers.
Tarrant Inmate Search Coverage Gaps
Notification is not final verification. Agency reporting can lag, a released person may disappear from search, and a transfer may look like departure. Confirm the actual event with the originating jail, prison, court, or receiving agency.
IVSS-Counties is not the channel for Federal Medical Center Fort Worth. Search the national BOP inmate locator by register number or name. A result of “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” concerns federal Bureau of Prisons custody and does not exclude another custodian or supervision.
ICE custody also requires the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. A Tarrant County departure can be an immigration transfer rather than community release. The county’s 287(g) participation and the federal detainer process make this distinction practically important. For people covered by the locator, ICE may retain certain recent-release information for a limited period, but the county book-out and ICE result should be read together.
The Texas sex-offender registry is a specialized post-release source only when a conviction creates a registration duty. Absence there says nothing about custody or release generally. Likewise, an IVSS result should never be treated as a general criminal-history record.
Verify Tarrant Inmate Status
Use notification and release records for custody verification, personal knowledge, safety planning, notification, or court and legal process. Status data may be incomplete, delayed, corrected, sealed, expunged, or lawfully withheld. Verify consequential facts with the government office that created the record.
